Amsterdam

Hey All,

Not much to post right now. Chris and I just arrived in Amsterdam and are looking forward to spending the next two days there before we head off to Berlin.

I can't believe that we are half way done! It actually feels like we have been across the pond forever. Hopefully the rest goes smoothly and we make it back in one piece.

Two things that Chris and I have done is walk around and had a few drinks. As we were walking in the streets we stopped by the many shops to see what they were offering. Many of the places had "crazy" biscuits, bongs, t-shirts with XXX, and the other touristy things. It was interesting to see what they had too offer. Maybe we will go to a cafe and have some of those brownies...ha ha.

As for the bar, we went in there to play pool, but it ended up being broken. So we took a seat at the bar and had a few drinks. The bar tender was a nice guy and gave us ideas on what types of beers are good around here and a few things we should try.

Things on the agenda for tomorrow: the Hienkien brewery, a few museums, the red light district and a few other places that we haven't fully decided on yet.

Talk to you all tomorrow!

  2. Hopefully things will settle down for you both. Don't forget to check out the windmills. Are the tulips in bloom?

By the way, I got a Blackberry Storm today - it is very cool!

    Stay away from the brownies.....

  3. haha yes, you'll lose more than your train pass if you eat those brownies! And what is the Red Light District? I thought it was some kind of scary prostitute place?...if I'm right, don't go there!

  4. the red light district isnt a scary prostitute place. Well..its more of a sad prostitute place. A lot of those women have to rent out those windows for a LOT of money in hopes that they will make that back, plus some. When I went to Amsterdam our tour guide told us all about it. Most of them arent there because they want to be.

I also had to tell matt not to take pictures around there. Our tour guide informed us that if one was to take pictures, the women would come out and do all they could to beat you senseless. they dont want to be treated as a sideshow...which is interesting because thats exactly what it makes me think of....

    its really very sad.

and yes....stay away from the brownies. You dont want to lose your wits and get your passport stolen..unless of course you want to stay over there. haha

    :-p
